HMB Partnership Award

Kirk was essential in the development of the Hawkeye Marching Band's COVID-19 safety protocols. As an epidemiologist and faculty member in the College of Public Health, as well as Alumni Leadership Board president, Kirk's knowledge of public health and the Hawkeye Marching Band made him an outstanding partner in our efforts to keep students safe during the 2020 season.

Alumni Recognition Award

John and Tim launched Down and Off, a podcast for alumni and friends of the Hawkeye Marching Band, in November of 2020. The podcast dives into the history of the band, and connects the past, present, and future through interviews with alums, students, faculty, and dear friends of the HMB.

HMB Legacy Award

The Kelly Piccolo Project honored the memory of HMB Piccolo Alum Kelly Enstrom. Organized by her friends and classmates, the campaign to raise funds to purchase a line of Game Day piccolos for the Band doubled the amount needed, a line of both piccolos and clarinets were purchased in Kelly's memory.
