Miles Anglin, DMA Candidate in Wind Conducting
Miles Anglin, a native of Rochester, NY, previously served as the Director of Bands at Greece Olympia High School and is the Assistant Conductor of 42 Infantry Division Band. At Greece Central schools, Miles taught general music classes in grades 6-12, conducted several bands, and created the curriculum for and taught the district’s first electronic music class. During his time at Olympia, Miles grew the struggling band program from 16 students to 70 students, and he worked with the Greece Blue Knights Marching Band, which won second place in the New York State Field Band Conference Large School 3 Championship in 2021 and first place in 2022.
As an active trumpet player, Miles has performed across New York state in the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Centerstage Pops Orchestra, Eastman Music Educators Wind Ensemble, and the New York Army National Guard’s “Governor’s Own Brass Quintet. Miles earned his Masters Degree in Wind Conducting (‘25) from the University of Massachusetts where he worked with the award winning Minuteman Marching Band, UMass Wind Ensemble, UMass Symphony Band, and assisted with the conducting courses. He earned his Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Music Education (‘20) from Nazareth University in Rochester, New York. He studied conducting with Dr. Matthew Westgate, Dr. Jared Chase, and Dr. Lindsay Bronnenkant and trumpet with Patrick Corvington, Dr. Steve Felix, Dr. Jared Chase, and Dr. Brett Long.
In his free time, Miles enjoys being outdoors exploring nature, experiencing new cultures through the arts, and discovering new foods from around the world. He is excited to start a new chapter in Iowa City and looks forward to being a part of the Hawkeye Family!
