Biography

Olivia Goodyear is a fifth-year student from Monticello, IA, majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a minor in music. In addition to serving as chair of the recruitment team, she is entering her third year as a section leader for the clarinets. Olivia attended Monticello High School, where she performed under directors Mike Kowbel and Alec Garringer. She served as drum major of the Panther Marching Band for two years and was the recipient of the “Semper Fidelis” Award for Musical Excellence her senior year. 

As a member of the Hawkeye Marching Band recruitment team, Olivia loves interacting with all the potential members, answering questions and sharing her love for the organization. She is grateful for all of the opportunities the band has provided her, from gaining a community on campus, to performing in historic Kinnick Stadium and beyond. Outside of the HMB, Olivia is involved across campus. She works for the Office of Admissions in many capacities, and helps with campus visits big and small. She is also an undergraduate research assistant in the Pediatric Audiology Lab under Dr. Elizabeth Walker, where she is currently working on her own thesis. In her spare time, Olivia loves to try new coffee shops, take ATV rides with her family, and of course talk to anyone who will listen about the Hawkeyes!
